Bridgestone Australia has been named the No. 1 fundraiser for the Leukaemia Foundation in South Australia and ranked within the top 20 supporters nationally for the World’s Greatest Shave this year.
As Principal Partner of the Leukaemia Foundation and a long-time supporter of the not-for-profit, Bridgestone Australia accepted two awards at a formal ‘Thank You’ ceremony held at the Bridgestone Australia Leukaemia Foundation Village on Friday, June 19.
Bridgestone Australia Corporate Services and Risk Management Director Joanne Denley said the company’s collaborative partnership with the Leukaemia Foundation began almost 30 years ago.
“We are very proud to support the inspiring work of the Leukaemia Foundation, which makes a real difference to Australians living with blood cancer and their families,” Ms Denley said.
“Bridgestone Australia supports the Foundation’s efforts in a number of ways, including through the Bridgestone Leukaemia Foundation Village and the provision of Patient Transport Vehicles across the country.
“More recently, we have helped award new grants to Australian blood cancer researchers through the Leukaemia Foundation’s National Research Program.
“We like to add further support wherever possible and the World’s Greatest Shave is a great opportunity to do so.”
“Bridgestone Australia this year raised $42,000 for the 2015 World’s Greatest Shave, an iconic and annual event that raises funds to support Australians with blood cancer.
The money was donated through a successful new fundraising strategy, which involved Family Channel Stores donating one dollar to the Leukaemia Foundation for each tyre sold between March 12 and March 14. Bridgestone Australia then matched their donations dollar for dollar.
This meant Bridgestone Australia ranked first in the top 20 fundraisers for the Foundation in South Australia and was ranked fourteenth in the top 40 supporters for the World’s Greatest Shave in 2015.
